Medicaid Home Care Benefits
In New York State, Medicaid not only pays for your care in a nursing home, but they will also pay to have caregivers come to your home and take care of you. This program is referred to as Community Medicaid. The qualification requirements are much more restrictive than that for nursing home, but can easily be met with some planning. In fact, we can get virtually anyone qualified for Community Medicaid within 30 days of meeting with us. Once eligible, we immediately begin the Medicaid application process to get you to begin receiving benefits.
Community Medicaid Home Advantages
Medicaid care at home can be as little as 2 to 4 hours a day and as much as 24 hours a day. The advantage of Community Medicaid Home is you can actually choose your own caregivers, including family members! Those who agree to take care of you are eligible to become an employee of the county, specifically for your care, and receive full county benefits including paid vacation and 401K benefits. If you don’t have anyone, the county will provide them. In addition, the care provided is not limited to your healthcare; it could include household chores, lawn mowing, and even doing your grocery shopping, laundry, and other tasks. We invite you to attend one of our Medicaid planning workshops to identify how you can protect all you’ve worked for and still be eligible to receive benefits under federal guidelines.
