About Brittney M. Shearin, Esq.

Brittney was born and raised in Binghamton, New York. She earned her bachelor’s degree in three years from Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and her Juris Doctorate from Syracuse University College of Law in 2013.

As an undergraduate at Wilkes University, Brittney majored in Criminology. She had been inspired by Jodie Foster’s character in Silence of the Lambs and considered becoming a detective in the FBI. Upon reflection, however, she realized that what appealed to her about being a detective was the research and attention-to-detail required to solve a problem, in this case a crime, rather than the hunt itself. Brittney decided that being an attorney would allow her to make the most of her organizational and information-processing skills, together with her diligent commitment to accuracy and attention-to-detail.

Brittney first became interested in Estate Planning and related areas of the law when she interviewed at EPLC. She loved the idea of designing plans to help alleviate clients’ concerns about their families and their futures. Brittney was hired as a Drafter, an area she enjoys and at which she excels. Over time, she began to work directly with clients. Somewhat reticent by nature, Brittney found this role challenging at first but has since come to like it. Today, Brittney’s practice focuses on Wills, Trusts, Estate Planning, and Asset Protection.

Brittney and her husband, Matthew, have been married since November of 2017. They enjoy socializing with friends, Trivia Night, and good food. They have also traveled extensively and are particularly fond of Spain. Brittney speaks Spanish well and Matthew, who teaches Spanish, is fluent in it. Brittney and Matthew are the proud parents of two cats, Wilma and Lulu. In addition, Brittney has a younger brother, Matt, who is a police officer. At family events, Brittney’s parents like to say that they have law and order in the house.
